Welcome to Stroud Valley
Adventure is at the heart of everything we do. At Stroud Valley Scout Group, young people aged 4–18 get the chance to explore the outdoors, take on new challenges, grow their confidence and build skills for life — right here in Stroud.
Every week, our sections give young people space to try new things, make friends, learn by doing and discover what they are capable of. From first nights away and muddy outdoor games to cooking, first aid, teamwork and navigation, Scouting gives young people experiences that stay with them long after the meeting ends.
- Weekly term-time meetings with games, teamwork and hands-on skills
- Outdoor activities and camps where young people learn by doing
- Practical skills such as cooking, first aid, navigation and problem solving
- Friendships and confidence built through challenge, responsibility and support
- A clear journey from Squirrels and Beavers through to Cubs, Scouts and Explorers
Our community makes this possible. Whether you donate, volunteer, hire our spaces or support us in another way, you help keep Scouting affordable, maintain our Scout Centre and Coach House, and give young people in Stroud more opportunities for adventure.
Our story stretches back more than 90 years: from the first St Lawrence Scout Troop in 1928, to Standish House Scout Group opening for young hospital patients in 1934, the Hollow Lane headquarters opening in 1938, and Stroud Scouts travelling to Kandersteg in 1949. That legacy continues today through every young person who joins, every volunteer who gives their time and every supporter who helps make Scouting possible.
